To my surprise several weeks ago, I found information making me question whether my “Republican” opponent was actually a Republican.  Now I know that this does not matter to many of my friends and supporters, but to a some of my Republican supporters it does matter.  However, it matters in another way, and that is character.

The information that I found is that in 2004, Pat Liston supported Barack Obama when he was running to be the US Senator from Illinois.  When I say supported, I mean he paid the Obama campaign $2000.00.  Thinking back on it, I do remember that his entire law firm was enamored with Obama and were talking about a campaign stop he made in Whiteside County.  This is public information taken from the internet.  You can see the report from the Obama campaign HERE.  The website I got it from is:  http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/norindsea.shtml.  Search for Patrick Liston.

Now does this make Mr. Liston a bad person?  No, absolutely not.  What it does indicate is that perhaps he chose to run as a Republican because he thought it would be easier since the Republicans usually win county offices in Whiteside County.  It also shows that Mr. Liston is prone to change his core beliefs and principles based on popularity or convenience at the time.

I have been a conservative Republican for as long as I can remember thinking about politics as a teenager.  Sometimes, being a conservative is unpopular and sometimes standing up for those principles has been detrimental to my aspirations.  I will never change.  My conservative principles are a part of my very core.  I have studied the Constitution in law school and observed the government and life in general as an adult.  The conservative principles that I follow have never been shown to be wrong.  I will never change them with the winds of popularity.  I certainly could not violate them by supporting a candidate like Barack Obama who beliefs are nearly opposite to mine.

So the question is this.  Do you want somebody who changes their core beliefs with the winds of popularity to be your next State’s Attorney?  If this matters to you and how you vote, it will matter to someone else as well.

I need your help to spread this around by election day.  I need you to send this post to everybody from Whiteside County in your Email list and to your Facebook friends or any other form of communication.  I am asking you to spread the word to every conservative you know and ask them to pass it on.

You can either share it using the Facebook share button below or you can share the link using the “Send Link” command under “File” in your browser.  Please recommend that they read it.

Thank you very much.

Ron Kallemeyn’s Trial Experience

My opponents like to list their experience and number of trials they have done.  Experience is a great barometer, but the State’s Attorney’s office needs a good administrator and an innovative leader like myself to get the job done in a cost effective matter.  However, I too have plenty of trial experience. During my thirteen [...]

My Recent Comments on the Sheley Case

This article came out last Saturday in the Gazette.  At first, I was a little upset by this article because I thought it confused what I said about delaying the Sheley trial.  It is a little confusing but I will clear it up.  First, we were discussing the possibility that one of the trials could [...]

It is time for change in the Whiteside County State’s Attorney’s office. After being under the same management for thirty years it is time to change more than just the name on the letterhead. I will perform a top-to-bottom review of the office, looking at lessons learned from the Nicholas Sheley cases and looking to [...]
